I received a new laptop (Lenovo v15 g2 alc) from school a few months ago. I was running Windows 11 and Ubuntu dual-booted. It functioned well until Windows began experiencing problems, pausing briefly before starting, sometimes attempting self-repair. Now it only shows a BSOD message. I decided to reinstall it. After booting the ISO, selecting the partition, I realized I hadn’t backed up my files. While the drive was at 0%, I clicked X and exited to copy data to the Ubuntu partition. When it restarted, it reported corrupted files. I assumed this was due to Windows not being installed correctly and hard resetting with the power button to boot from GRUB. When I tried again, the keyboard light activated, the screen flashed briefly, and nothing appeared. Fans increased and then decreased on their own. Caps lock and numlock didn’t work. I attempted to reset CMOS, removed the main battery, and even used an SSD, but nothing resolved the issue. Could the Windows installer have corrupted the BIOS? Has anyone encountered this problem before or knows a solution? Edit: I tried holding down the Novo button for a few seconds after booting, and it just beeped twice. I don’t understand what that meant. Updated July 12, 2023 by ilobilo

I experienced this problem with an old HP laptop and had to dispose of it. The previous owner claimed they resolved it, but I never received it again despite having many files on it. I also didn’t manage to learn how to do it myself. Luckily, I found a solution that worked.

Hello, I'm facing the same issue with my V15 G2 Alc dualboot setup running Windows 10 and Arch Linux. The Windows boot time has increased to 1-2 minutes, and it no longer responds—only the keyboard light activates and a two-beep sequence occurs when holding the Novo button. Could anyone suggest a solution? Thanks.

I'm facing the same issue again. Has anyone attempted a BIOS reprogram? The motherboard seems responsive but doesn't activate. This could help others. These issues often cause a BIOS error. I resolved it by reprogramming with a CH341 module. I discovered a new BIOS online.
