Hi,
my problem is that the audio from my laptop can suddenly become very poor and distorted without any apparent cause. It starts from startup, goes to edge, then YouTube, and the sound quality drops, even though no other apps are running. Sometimes it works fine, but usually it doesn’t.
I’ve checked the drivers via Device Manager, turned off various background applications to reduce strain on the laptop, and tested different audio connections—none of them caused issues.
During these audio failures, the CPU usage is low at about 20%, while memory stays around 70-80%.
The forum doesn’t allow me to share an image of the performance memory tab (just spam).
My laptop model is a Lenovo Ideapad S340 with AMD Radeon Vega 8 and AMD Ryzen 5 3500U, 8 GB RAM.
Is it possible that the limited 8 GB of RAM is the problem? Could there be a memory issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Check Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer for any error codes, warnings, or informational events linked to audio software. Focus on entries immediately before or during audio degradation or distortion.
Images can be shared using imgur (www.imgur.com > green "New post" icon).
Reliability History/Monitor offers a timeline view that might highlight trends.

Reliability history indicates a Realtek Audio Console issue where it stopped functioning. Audio performance varies; when YouTube plays and nothing is interacted with, quality stays good or improves temporarily. Opening Task Manager or a new tab in Edge quickly reduces audio clarity, despite normal CPU and memory usage. (Updated comment with attached image)

You shouldn't be using the speakers in the laptop anyway! Try connecting a USB DAC such as an AQ Dragonfly and use speakers or headphones instead. I might offer you my Dragonfly at a low price if you're interested.
