Problem with laptop charging dock
Problem with laptop charging dock
I own an elitebook 735 g5 which only has HDMI and not a DisplayPort. It is connected to a HP ultraslim docking station 2013, but that dock has two DisplayPort ports and no HDMI ports. One old monitor uses VGA to connect to the dock, and the second one with a DisplayPort port isn't working at all. Is my guess correct? I think if the laptop doesn't have a DisplayPort, those two DisplayPort slots on the dock won't work. Is there any adapter that could fix this?
The HP EliteBook 735 g5 notebook PC page has some USB-C GPU output service manual info here. It says the docking station works at high resolution like this: The dock shows max speed of 2K screen at 60 hz with DisplayPort connection, and also at 1920 by 1200 pixels using VGA. There are two types of USB-C docks coming from HP like G3 and G4 models that support the same high resolution settings too. These G3 and G4 units can handle 2K screen on DisplayPort channel one and two, while still keeping it at 60 hz frame rate. Also, an older Thunderbolt dock model with 120W power is available which can display a picture up to 2560 by 1440 pixels in resolution using DisplayPort connection one but only down to 1920 by 1080 pixels on another port called VGA.
I believe this one comes with VGA, HDMI, and DisplayPort ports. Here is the link: https://directnine.uk/products/phil...wj...qoEALw_wcB
It does have a DisplayPort, but only if you add a dock. If your laptop doesn't have one, you need that extra device. Can I connect two screens at once? The second screen is old and only has a VGA port, which works with the dock. Do I just need to find an HDMI connector instead of a DisplayPort? Or do I need both a VGA or HDMI to HDMI connection? That could be plugged into the dock. I want to make sure I buy the right things for this.
The service manual says you can use both the displayPort and VGA ports on the dock.
Even though this laptop doesn't have a displayport, that's okay because you can still use it with a monitor and keyboard.
