Last evening, while resting near our relatives' home, the internet went down on my partner's laptop. Although I'm not very skilled with networks, I usually can spot the issue and know a solution. This one was particularly puzzling. The laptop used Windows 10, connected through Wi-Fi, and had been running smoothly until the connection cut out. I could see the router in the list of available networks and it seemed to work—showing me when the password was correct or incorrect—but it wouldn't reach the internet. It didn’t connect at all, even though I tried accessing the router directly from my phone. I couldn’t reach the router (BT Hub 4 at 192.168.1.254) and when I checked via a mobile hotspot, the laptop never appeared on the connected list. The same happened with a network cable; the manager said it was plugged in, but the computer refused to connect. I’m pretty sure the cables were fine, because I could still reach the router through a powerline connection (using a phone linked to a powerline hotspot). I also tried connecting via the powerline hotspot itself, needing the right password, but still failing to join either network or the internet. So far, it seems like the laptop is having trouble with both Wi-Fi and wired connections, while the router works fine except for this device. I’ve tried most common fixes—like resetting settings, restarting devices, etc.—but nothing seems to help. Do you have any suggestions?
