I understand if this is in the wrong forum. My name is here, I own an Apple iPhone 6. Since updating to iOS 11, I’ve been struggling to install apps. What I experience is that after selecting an app and clicking “Get,” a warning appears asking me to log into my Apple ID. I enter it, and the warning disappears. Then I click “Get” once more, and at the bottom it prompts me to confirm the download. I do that, but nothing happens. I repeat the process, and it keeps asking for login again.

I opened settings, went to the My Name tab, then clicked on “Apple ID, iCloud, iTunes and App Store.” There, the “iTunes and App Store” section was off. I toggled it on and saw a pop-up: “Sign into iTunes and App Store as (my Apple ID)?” I selected it and entered my password. After confirming, a white page appeared with a loading icon and said “Connecting to iTunes and App Store.” It took about a second before another alert appeared: “Cannot connect to servers,” with only an “Ok” option.

I repeated the login several times, but the error persisted. I attempted to log out and back in on my phone, but it didn’t resolve. Eventually, after nearly half an hour of trying, I finally logged in successfully. However, when I tried to download an app, it still wouldn’t work. I’ve used both cellular data (T-Mobile) and home WiFi, but nothing changed.

Anyone have tips or suggestions? Appreciate your help, even if you didn’t explain things clearly. Thanks!

I would completely log out of the App Store and then log back in from scratch. If that doesn’t work, a restore might help to check for any issues with the software update. I’m using iOS 11 and have never had problems installing apps, so the problem isn’t with the system.

I’ve attempted that, but it doesn’t appear to function properly. When you log out, the system still shows you’re signed in, yet enabling Apple’s automatic downloads triggers a pop-up asking for re-authentication even though it says you’re logged in. What should I do to fix this?

Have you considered clearing your network configurations? Remember to re-enter your Wi-Fi password. Visit General -> Reset and look down to Reset Network Settings, or something similar. It resolved a strange issue for me recently.

Perform a restore via iTunes. Backup your phone first, then open iTunes and select restore. This will wipe your device to factory settings and install a new version of iOS. Make sure you also back up your music, movies, and other files on the computer so you can sync everything afterward.

I'll try this only as a last resort. Appreciate the idea!

Sure, everything looks good. I found iOS 11 quite useful overall, and I’m hoping you’ll like it too.

Also, iOS 11 feels pretty smooth, though I’m still dealing with a few issues that bother me. Maybe I should visit a nearby Apple Store to check it out. Appreciate the support!
