The router is quite old, and it doesn't support Wi-Fi 6. It likely only works with Wi-Fi 5.

Sure, I refreshed the bios and installed the proper drivers. I tested both Wi-Fi and Ethernet; both had limitations on this machine. I used the Ethernet connection on the back of my computer and tried the 1GB and 2.5GB ports just in case.

router is likely eight months old. the wifi is separate. it was provided by my plumes i alpha and beta test. it supports wifi5 and 6. i can download files at full speed on any device—phones, laptops, etc.—but not on my computer.

I saw it clearly! The Killer Network Service for drivers was slowing things down. I disabled it, and instantly everything snapped back to normal speed. After restarting it, it automatically capped itself at 12.5MB/s. I opened the app that manages it and confirmed the limit was set correctly.
