Hello, I just completed assembling my first PC yesterday and am struggling to understand why Windows isn’t installing properly and the machine keeps restarting. Here’s a summary of the components I used: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-core processor, Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (Wi-Fi), ATX AM4 motherboard, G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 RAM, Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 NVMe SSD, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 8 GB graphics card, NZXT H510 ATX case, and MasterWatt 750W power supply (80+ Bronze). All parts connected without issues. After installing the power supply, keyboard, and monitor, the PC booted into BIOS as expected—RAM detected at 2133MHz, CPU recognized, SSD identified correctly. I created a Windows USB drive via Bootable Windows and attempted installation. The process proceeded smoothly until I tried to install Windows. This is when difficulties began. The motherboard’s BIOS LED displayed the correct sequence and turned green, indicating everything was fine. The monitor briefly showed the "TUF Gaming" logo for about 30 seconds before the PC restarted. If left alone, it would continue to reboot indefinitely. To troubleshoot further, I followed these steps: changed USB drive to bootable Windows, downloaded an ISO of Windows and installed it using Rufus on various USB drives, adjusted BIOS settings in UEFI/Legacy OPROM, tested all USB ports, used a UBUNTU installer on a different USB, modified the boot configuration in BIOS, removed unnecessary fans and RGB, detached the PSU extension cables, removed one RAM stick, and even tried a UBUNTU installation with the same settings. Despite these efforts, the PC still locks up and restarts repeatedly. My current approach is focusing on hardware adjustments—disconnecting unused fans, removing the RGB case, and checking the power supply connection. I’m unsure what else to try since I don’t have a separate SSD or PSU for testing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Have you tried XMP 1 to XMP 2 for better performance? Many users reported improvements after making this change.
Are you navigating to the boot options and choosing the USB manually, or do you want it to start booting from USB automatically? If you simply connect the USB and power on, sometimes BIOS settings block automatic USB boot; press F12 or F11 during startup to access the boot menu and select the drive with Windows installed.
Thank you for your feedback. I attempted to turn on DOCP in the BIOS but it didn’t work. I checked all USB ports and disconnected everything except the front USB and RGB, then used a USB drive as the boot device. Switching to a different hard drive from my NAS also didn’t help. Could you suggest any other options?
When all options fail, set up Windows on a different machine and transfer your SSD/HDD to the original PC.
I managed to set up Windows on the SSD on another machine and reinstall it on my new PC. Still facing the same issue—when I boot from the SSD, the Windows logo appears, then the system restarts after a short delay. I've experimented with different RAM configurations and even swapped out the graphics card slot, but nothing changed. I also tried changing the RAM slots in the PCIe card without success. Now I’m left without access to other DDR4 RAM modules or compatible motherboards. With two RAM DIMMs installed, I think the problem isn’t the RAM itself, as that would likely cause both to fail. I’m curious whether the CPU or motherboard might be the culprit. Any advice would be appreciated.
