So I switched from Windows 11 to Windows 10 on my new gaming laptop (MSI Thin GF63 12VF | i7-12650h, rtx 4060 variant) because I don’t like Windows 11. I also considered using custom operating systems like Ghostspectre or ReviOS to improve performance. In short, I broke my windows, and when I tried reinstalling Windows again—whether fresh or custom—it kept showing an error: ‘A media driver your computer needs is missing, this could be a DVD, USB or a hard disk driver…’. I checked MSI’s support page for the driver, but it didn’t appear there. I searched various YouTube videos and websites, but all the drivers I found were for 12th generation Intel CPUs and didn’t work with my system. Whenever I tried to load them, the message would say ‘No new devices drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK.’ It seems like I’m stuck and can’t get Windows back up. I’ve been searching for hours without success and am starting to lose hope. I’m trying everything to get this laptop working again, even though I’ve only had it for a day. This isn’t possible.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! I attempted to reinstall Windows again, whether it was fresh or custom, but the system displays a message asking where the installer for your OS came from and how it was created.

Create a Win10 USB using Microsoft Media Creation Tool and start the laptop via USB, possibly needing to adjust BIOS settings for USB boot. Are you following this approach? This driver setup seems risky.
I’m not confident activating a Win10 copy with the 11 key works—maybe it’s not the right method.

I’ve used Windows Media Creation Tool to install Windows onto my USB, but the custom installers came from ReviOS and GhostSpectre 😕. The problem persists with the same setup.

I’m working exactly as I was before, but I’m struggling with the step where I pick a drive or partition to install Windows since I need the driver. I’ve faced this problem before on my computer, which required me to download the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver to fix it, but I can’t locate a compatible one for my laptop. This leads to the error: ‘No new devices drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK.’ I also wanted to mention that this laptop was originally set up with Windows 11.

On the setup screen showing partitions, remove everything there; you'll have unallocated space on drive 0. Click next. Watch the latter part of the video to see how partitions are handled during installation.
See: https://youtu.be/jMW_WHqQBf8
At 4:20, deleting partitions is necessary. After that, clicking next should be sufficient since Windows will generate the remaining recovery partitions automatically.

Use a different USB drive, as the error was caused by missing drivers for the USB device. Installation Media = USB

Turn off Intel RST in BIOS.
Download the Gigabyte USB installer (select one for Intel boards, it works on Windows 10 too).
Use the utility | Service / Support - GIGABYTE Global.
Extract the zip file.
Locate the driver folder in WindowsImageTool\StorageControllers\Samsung_NVMe.
Copy it to the Windows USB install media.
Install the driver during the Windows setup.

There’s no Intel RST choice in my BIOS and the Enable VMD controller option remains disabled or hidden.
I attempted to use the driver you provided, but it still isn’t listed among compatible drivers.
After disabling the hide incompatible drivers setting and proceeding further, I tried installing the Samsung NVME controller driver, which also failed to resolve the problem.
The situation isn’t looking promising yet.

You’re missing the point, I’m familiar with setting up Windows from a USB. The problem is that when I start the installation, it attempts to search for a driver but can’t locate one that works with my laptop. I’ve extracted it from Intel’s RST setup and tried using a driver from another similar device, but it doesn’t work at all.
