Problem with HP BIOS Recovery Tool on USB.
Problem with HP BIOS Recovery Tool on USB.
So my HP laptop (running Linux) didn’t boot this morning without any reason. It’s interesting. I’m fairly comfortable with computers overall; I’ve upgraded and rebuilt this machine, and the one that won’t start is still under my control. I followed all the steps on HP’s website, have an account, and both laptops are registered, so I wasn’t in a bind about which BIOS version to install. There are two updates available—F.21 Rev.A and F.23 Rev.A. I downloaded the F.23 file first, ran it, created a USB drive, and transferred the files. After that, I placed the USB in the other PC while pressing Win+B and holding the power button for a couple of seconds, as directed. Initially, the broken machine began a BIOS update, but around the middle it went blank (as per the instructions), so I let it finish, though it never completed. Now the computer isn’t recognizing the USB to start the BIOS update. There are no other options; the BIOS is essential for everything to function, and I can’t rely on the built-in HP tools again.
