Problem with Hard Drive (Thank you for your assistance)
I got a surprise Christmas present from my grandparents—a basic gaming PC that they used for work. After moving crucial files to USB drives, I attempted a factory reset after launching some games. It initially blue-screened with the message "system thread exception not handled" before resetting again. When I powered it back on, it displayed only "Other User" and no login worked. The next morning it repeated the same error and restarted automatically. Eventually, I figured out the issue by rewiring the hard drive connections and restoring functionality. Now I’m trying to figure out how to connect the drive to another machine, like a laptop, and either format or wipe it. If I can’t do that, I’m considering buying a new drive or sending it to a repair shop. There’s no clear guide on YouTube to help me right now.
A USB docking station lets you view the drive on your laptop, clean it, and verify its health. During this process, I’ll also run a memory check on the new system via memtest.org to ensure RAM integrity.
