Hello. I recently installed a new GPU (MSI Ventus 3x e RX 4070) and a fresh case (Phanteks G500A). After transferring all my components to the new case, I noticed the GPU isn't fitting perfectly into the PCIe slot. When I push it in, more pressure is needed on one side than the other, and the left side of the PCIe doesn’t seem to align properly with the right side. I also observed that the screw holes for securing the thumbscrews aren’t aligned, so I have to push the case in differently. Additionally, the input connectors on the motherboard appear misaligned, as if the IO shield is pushed too far inside. When I try to install the GPU fully, power and display signals work, but it fails to detect in Device Manager or Task Manager. I attempted to enable it in Device Manager, but only disabling it worked. Switching the DP to another port on the GPU gives no signal—only one port functions. Could you help figure out why? I suspect the GPU isn’t seated completely, but I’m unsure how that could happen despite tightening everything. Do I need spacers between the standoffs and the motherboard?
your motherboard needs spacers at the rear of the enclosure; if they're missing, consider adding them to ensure proper alignment. Placing them correctly avoids misalignment and potential short circuits between the board and the case.
The issue often arises when the PCIe slot bracket doesn’t fit properly within the case openings, or it might have gone too far and stuck due to obstruction, making it impossible for the bracket to fully engage. In some situations, positioning the side of the card can be quite challenging.
I updated the video with a brief note. I removed the MOB, verified all standoffs were secure, installed the GPU (keeping the MOB out of the case) and noticed it clicked more this time compared to when it was inside the case. After that, I reinstalled everything back. When I power on the system now, it still doesn’t appear in Device Manager or Task Manager, and only one GPU port is usable. My old GPU worked similarly, but my new one does too. I ran DDU to uninstall all NVIDIA drivers before changing the case, and I haven’t reinstalled them. Could this be related to a driver problem?

I installed the GPU onto the MOB before placing it inside the case. Then I picked it up and mounted it (it was a bit tricky but fine). When I restarted Windows, it didn’t appear in Device Manager. After connecting the Ethernet cable, after a brief wait the screen lit up and the GPU was detected (likely Windows installing drivers). It’s now working properly, and all the card outputs function correctly.
