I was uncertain about how to present this topic since it covers several aspects. My setup includes a BenQ XL240G monitor and a Strix 970 graphics card. For shooters, I favor a narrow field of view around 70 degrees. Recently, I returned to Counter-Strike, which requires a wider angle. Previously, I played for about a week and discovered that 16:9 was too much. Now I prefer my old resolution of 1280x1024, which works well for browsing and playing racing or shooting games at 1080P with a low FOV. If I set the CSGO resolution to "1280X1024," it stretches vertically, causing blurriness. I've tried using "-w 1280 -h 1024" in launch options, ensuring the display is set to "4:3" and confirming no scaling is selected in the Nvidia control panel. The only solution that lets me run at 1280x1024 without scaling is setting my desktop resolution to that value and using Borderless window mode. I've reached out to CSGO forums without success, so I'm sharing this issue here because I can't figure out how to achieve a fullscreen 1280x1024 experience in 1080P with no distortion. Appreciate any assistance.

No, I didn't adjust scaling settings or modify the game's scaling mode through the NVIDIA control panel.

Attempted several times, but nothing appears to function.
