Problem with FPS (help pls)
My performance is declining in games. I'm puzzled as this isn't just a recent issue. My CPU usage is consistently at maximum, and my FPS has dropped significantly even when I'm not actively playing. Early in the game it was around 120, but now it's barely above 60 while looking at low-poly areas. As the game goes on, it keeps getting worse, often capping around 20 or lower. I also experience frequent interruptions and overheating, with temperatures between 45-55 but CPU usage at 100%. There haven't been any hardware changes, and I've updated drivers and even swapped thermal paste and pads last night. Despite this, my setup isn't powerful enough to handle the demands anymore. I'm struggling and would really appreciate any advice. Thanks.
Additionally, my GPU isn't experiencing any issues. It operates at around 10% usage, and even with the CPU not being a bottleneck, I haven't noticed any problems. This is because I've tested various GPUs from 460se to r9 380x. I'm currently using a 1050. To further clarify, adjusting the resolution, aspect ratio, or 3D settings doesn't seem to make a difference.
Have you attempted using DDU to remove outdated graphics drivers and reinstall them? Having numerous drivers in place may lead to various issues.
if the CPU is at 100%, then yes... you definitely have a CPU bottleneck.
I believe it's the same
During my Xeon W3550 gaming sessions, regardless of settings, FPS remained unchanged due to CPU limitations.
Before upgrading my CPU, I experienced significant drops and stuttering in games like Final Fantasy XV.
It seems an upgrade would be necessary.
Sometimes a workaround helps maintain stable FPS—disabling full screen optimization in .exe compatibility settings works.
This depends on the games you play.
EDIT: My Xeon was paired with a GTX 1060
Are you connecting your monitor to the motherboard by accident rather than the GPU, and what kind of connection cable are you using?
Which game is being played? What are the specifications of your monitors?
Up to now, this issue appears only in Fortnite. I know it's a CPU-heavy game, but I hadn't experienced this problem for quite some time.
Late-game performance is particularly tough even for newer players on the Kaby Lake lineup.
I've tested various monitors, and the same problem persists:
LG-25um57
Asus
VG248QE
I've also adjusted the aspect ratio to 16:9, and set both game and 3D resolutions, but the issue remains unchanged with the same frame rate.
