Recently, my PC would unexpectedly shut down all its USB connections at random. This happened while I was playing games, streaming, or even just chatting on Discord. Everything would freeze for a moment before coming back. Usually, it took around 5 to 10 seconds for everything to resume. After that, the system would restart and everything would work again. However, a few days ago it stopped working completely. I’ve checked many times and tried adjusting settings to prevent this from happening. I also updated my motherboard BIOS, reinstalled drivers, and changed some configurations.
My hardware includes an i7-12700K CPU, Asus Prime Z790-A motherboard, 64GB of G-Skill DDR5 RAM at 6000MHz, a Gigabyte 4070TI Aero GPU, a 1000W Corsair PSU, and storage with several SSDs and HDDs. I have an Elgato 4K cam link Ethernet card, a webcam, a stream deck, a USB hub, a mouse, a camera, and a few USB cords for charging devices. There are also issues with my NAGA X GoXLR webcam and Voicemeter that would stop working suddenly. I’m unsure if overloading the ports caused it or if something else was at play.
