I've just upgraded the CPU and my computer isn't even starting to BIOS, it's stuck at the pre-bios screen (it has a proper name, but I'm forgetting it). I've already cleared the CMOS, reset the cooling, and I'm running out of ideas. I also noticed it's looping a couple of times during boot.

Is your CPU seated correctly?

Yes, it's understandable. Just correct alignment and adequate force.

Consider disconnecting all external peripherals to test functionality, and if that fails, try using only the drive with Windows installed by removing others. Also, check if your BIOS is up to date to version F65b.

Not posting yet. I didn't mention having a PCIe Wi-Fi card. If it might cause problems, I can look up the model. I'll also remove all hard drives except the boot drive.

Don't assume the Wi-Fi card is causing the issue. Try these steps.

Shifted it to a single RAM stick, used just the boot drive, but still no posting. I can't do anything else since it isn't even starting up into BIOS.

It might be useful to check your PSU and see how many watts it provides.

No disk needed for a bios screen; unplug everything.
