I have the Gskill F5-6000J3040F16GA2-RS5K RAM, it isn’t on the Qvl yet but I haven’t faced problems before. I assumed the XMP profile might help, but maybe a different type would work better. In the BIOS I’ve attempted to run the XMP profile (cl30-40-40-96 at 6000MHz), sometimes it starts but then crashes or fails to boot again. To fix this, I need to disconnect the battery or short the jbatt connector to reset the CMOS and get back into the BIOS. If I run it normally without changes, the system boots fine but runs at 4800MHz with poor timing. Should I stick with what I have or switch to a more stable option? For a 32GB 2x16GB kit on Amazon, what models are known for reliability?

Ensure you have the most recent BIOS installed. Previously, problems occurred with early BIOS versions on AMD boards where the XMP profile didn’t read properly. Most issues are now resolved in the latest BIOS updates. If it still doesn’t work, set the XMP parameters manually—it should function correctly.

I haven’t touched RAM settings before, so I’m really confused. I understand where the speed changes happen but don’t know which numbers correspond to the timing values. For my unit it lists the codes as cl30-40-40-96 and I need to figure out what letters match those numbers in the BIOS.

A submenu for memory timings will appear near the memory frequency dial. Adjust tCL to 30, tRCD to 40, tRP to 40, and tRAS to 96 (30 is also acceptable). Also, set the memory voltage to 1.35V.

Thanks for your support! I'm planning to work for the next six hours but will test it at home afterward. I'll update you once I see if it works. Right now, I'm using version 16 BIOS and will start there. If it doesn't function, I'll try version 17 instead. No other settings should be changed while in the BIOS unless you specify otherwise.

It could improve performance by slightly adjusting the SOC voltage, around 1.25V, which may allow the memory controller to operate at higher frequencies.

Thanks for your support. I’m aiming to finish this by tonight and make good use of my new 7800xt, which I received yesterday.

Using the latest BIOS and adjusting RAM speed, memory voltage set to 1.35 and system voltage to 1.25, the machine started successfully. I played games for roughly three hours without any crashes or BSODs. Restarted via Windows ten times, powered off completely through Windows, waited ten minutes, then restarted with the power button on. After leaving it off overnight and turning it back on this morning, it booted immediately. I’m currently shutting it down through Windows to check the outcome. I’m about to turn it back on, fans are spinning, RGB lights are on, and the cooler is warming up but it still doesn’t boot. When I power it off again and then back on with the power button, it started without issues, all settings remained unchanged. This seems to be the most stable configuration I’ve experienced so far. Unsure whether to repeat your steps for the V17 BIOS or keep this setup.

Based on my observations, this problem often stems from a quick startup. Updating the BIOS later can resolve it, or you can simply turn off fast boot in both Windows and the BIOS settings.

I searched through the bios but didn’t locate a fast boot option. It turned up in the OS settings and I turned it off. After doing that, I could power off and turn it back on without issues every time. I probably did it at least 20 times in the last half hour to confirm it worked. Thanks a lot—it really helped keep things clear.
