I developed my new setup, it functioned well initially. I performed a clean OS installation, added new drivers via Armory Crate, followed by BIOS updates. Under the BIOS I noticed firmware files, prompting me to consider an update. However, I realized I shouldn’t have done that since I can’t roll back changes. I applied the Audio ALC4080/ALC4082 firmware update tool and after restarting, I experienced persistent crackling and static in my headset, even during YouTube playback. The noise appears consistently when switching tabs or when using different headsets. After multiple attempts, I’ve tried reinstalling drivers, reverting BIOS, and cleaning the OS, but the firmware remains intact. I’m unsure if removing the audio firmware would resolve the issue. I’ve reached out to ASUS tech support without receiving a response. Any advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated. P.S. The static is even noticeable when plugging in the headset on any USB port, even when the PC is off.

The device connected via USB operates independently, featuring its own sound processor.

But removing the AUX from the 7.1 external adapter and connecting it to the banana splitter still causes crackling, even when you connect the aux directly into your monitor—it’s still producing that crackling sound. What’s unusual is that the firmware update seems to be the source of the problem, which I can’t resolve. I’m not sure if another component might be faulty, since the PSU is functioning properly.

Sure, I can attempt to apply the BIOS and firmware updates directly from the manufacturers' site instead of using the Armory Crate.

The BIOS and firmware audio update were all made by me. Armory only handled chipset drivers and similar tasks.

These drivers? Check the AMD support page for AM5 sockets. When connecting the headset elsewhere, it seems you might be introducing grounding issues. Inspect the extension cord and outlet—your grounding could be compromised.

I tested it on my laptop and there were no problems at all, even on the old PC I sold recently. I considered the same for my kitchen, bedroom, living room, and the issue appeared everywhere. Still frustrated that I suspect the firmware driver might be the main problem, since I didn’t notice any static or crackling until after restarting after the update. I also wondered if my cables weren’t properly connected to the PSU or MOBO, even though I double-checked they were plugged in correctly. After all, if they weren’t working, the PC wouldn’t start.

It's not the PSU. Do you have a voltage tester, a multimeter or a socket tester? Because excess voltage on the ground pin(s) can travel to all the devices onnected and it would affect anything that uses the grounding - and both USB and 3.5mm jacks do. Well, I wouldn't recommend licking a metal part of your chasis, but there's a lick test to detect if a bettery has voltage... lol

Sadly, I don’t have those items. It seems I’ll have to scratch some pins until they respond. Do you have any software you could use to try this? I’d be happy to return my PC and send back the motherboard if needed, but right now it’s not practical for work.
