Laptop: ASUS D550M UEFI: Aptio Setup Utility v2.15.1236 The hard drive failed completely; it was dead after a crash. I purchased a replacement on Amazon, matching the original WD Blue 500GB 5400rpm 2.5-inch drive. After installation and applying optimized defaults, UEFI recognized it under SATA settings but didn’t list it as a boot option—likely because nothing was available to boot from. I tried using a Windows 7 USB drive; it appeared in the boot options, which worked fine. I reset to fast boot, disabled secure boot, and retried—still successful. After shutting down, navigating to boot options via spam helped, and the UEFI reloaded properly. Uncertain what to do next, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Simon.
