I owned a 5600x for several months, and recently bought a 5800x3d from microcenter due to a discount. After installation, the task manager shows a base clock of 3.6GHz (most sources list it as 3.4). During gameplay, benchmarks, and idle tasks, it consistently runs at 3.55-3.58GHz. It doesn’t increase or fall below 3.5. I’m unsure what to do. I attempted a BIOS update to version 4408 on an Asus TUF X570 gaming plus Wi-Fi unit, but the issue persists as suggested by some online users. Could you have any advice? Also, since the BIOS was updated, idle temperatures have risen significantly—now around 43-47°C, whereas previously they were about 32°C. Currently it’s at 5% load, 3.58GHz, and 44°C. The thermal paste or cooling setup seems fine; with the same chip and cooler it was around 32°C. I’ve attached a screenshot of tskmgr to illustrate the original 3.6GHz reading.

Your bio appears to match what it's intended to be. Task manager can sometimes feel like a bit of a mess.

My profile shows a base clock of 3.6, too. Before the update it was 3.4 and I haven't managed to go above that. That's why I went ahead with the update.

I might start by resetting the BIOS to the default or auto settings first.

That worked! I wouldn't have imagined such a straightforward solution would succeed! Thanks!
