Hey there, I'm facing some issues with fitting my GPU and the accompanying drive card into my motherboard. I've already returned two boards due to the same problem—specifically, the Q release latch isn't working properly. The card slides in smoothly on the left side where the gold teeth are, and the IO tabs align nicely along the side of the case. However, the black latch on the right side doesn't click at all. I can manually pull it up with a finger or tool to make it engage, but others say that if you have to force it up, it won't click properly.

I've attached some photos and a short video showing my attempts to insert the GPU: https://imgur.com/a/QrpELwX https://imgur.com/a/4Wchq8X

What I've tried so far:
- Removed the power supply from the back to prevent IO tabs from touching the card
- Applied firm pressure while inserting both cards; confirmed the motherboard sits securely
- Loosened some motherboard screws and reinserted the card
- Needed help with this issue

Please let me know if you've encountered similar problems or have any suggestions. Thank you!

I recently assembled my second PC last week, and for the GPU and RAM modules, they didn’t click as expected, according to countless build guides. This worried me, but after checking everything else to confirm proper connections without the latch engaging, I decided to power it on. To my surprise, everything functioned perfectly, maintaining steady performance since then. Given how costly your components are compared to mine, you might want to exercise caution with yours. I wanted to offer a different viewpoint. My key parts include: Asus Prime B660M-A D4 WIFI Team group, Asus TUF alliance DDR4 2x8gb 3200 MHz, Asus TUF RX 6800 XT.

Place it securely inside and ensure the PCIe connector is firmly connected to the motherboard; this should resolve any issues.

Did you apply pressure to the PCI-E lock to ensure it was in the unlocked state before inserting the GPU? The RTX 3090 Ti responds well to this step. I’m checking if the heatsinks on the motherboard are blocking either the backplate or the cooler for the GPU. In the first image you shared, you’re not using a GPU—just an ASUS Hyper M.2 Add-in card. The second image shows the GPU itself.

Thanks for the feedback. It seems some folks think it's better to steer clear, but I remember being warned against turning it on unless the GPU latch clicks. Did things shift recently? I'm not sure. I've always been cautious about starting up the PC until that confirmation. Have you had similar experiences or seen others do the same?

I'm not familiar with that. My setup works smoothly across all GPUs I've used so far.

Hey there, I checked it and confirmed that neither the cooler nor the heatsink is affecting the device. You can see from the photos posted that the included drive card also fits the PCIe slot but didn’t latch properly—even when the motherboard was inserted and removed. I made sure to press the latch button on the right side of the latch (top of the ROG tab) before trying to insert the card. ASUS said the motherboard works with the EVGA 3090ti, and they mentioned it’s a mechanical failure that needs an RMA. I’m wondering if other users have had similar problems?

I've never come across that exact warning, but I know many users have faced issues with RAM or GPU connections not clicking properly, which prevents the PC from powering up or makes the GPU unrecognizable. People often recommend re-seating the GPU or RAM to fix these problems.

It should secure itself when pushed in, but it doesn’t, though it functions properly. Even with damaged latching parts, it works as long as the GPU is completely inside the slot.
