Problem regarding a blockage during gameplay in Counter-Strike.
Hi everyone! I’m experiencing a frustrating problem with CS. While playing, I consistently encounter issues where my latency and weapon spread suddenly increase dramatically when firing, making it appear as though shots aren’t being registered by the game. My recoil also becomes unstable during these spikes. My latency fluctuates significantly, reaching 1-10, and I've eliminated potential causes by disabling my firewall, updating Windows, and ensuring a stable connection with no packet loss—my internet speed is consistently excellent at 95 megabits download and upload, with a ping of 5ms on local servers and 10-30ms on European ones. Interestingly, using `fps_override 1` with my 144Hz monitor causes the latency spikes to become more frequent. I'm currently running at a consistent 100 frames per second without an override and with a 120Hz monitor. Could someone please advise on how to resolve this persistent issue? Thank you!
Please share your complete system specifications with us because this certainly sounds like a hardware problem or a driver issue
As a devoted fan of older computer systems and utilizing a vintage PC for running 1.6, here’s a breakdown of my hardware:
Motherboard: Jetway Bi-100
Processor: Celeron E3300 2.5GHz at 3.5 GHz
Memory: 4 x 1GB DDR2 800MHz @ 900MHz
Video Card: 7900GS 256MB at stock speeds
Power Supply: Fortron 400W
I currently have a newer laptop with an i5 processor and GTX 1050 graphics, but I’ve found it difficult to adapt to using that machine for 1.6, therefore I stick with my older PC, which fondly recalls my passion for the game. Recently, I updated my internet service provider; previously, it suffered from packet loss without any bandwidth restrictions, while this new connection is ideal – boasting 100/100 download and upload speeds with zero latency. However, I'm still encountering some bandwidth limitations. My router is an Asus RT-N12+, configured to limit data transfer speeds for other devices (phones and television) at 10mb download/upload, with a maximum speed of unlimited for my PC. I’m running Windows 7 on the PC, which was installed approximately two to three months ago. My monitor is a 144Hz, 1ms, FreeSync display – I also use it on my laptop when playing CS:GO, though I haven’t been playing as frequently lately.
In-game settings are as follows:
cl_updaterate 101
cl_cmdrate 105
rate 100000
I've attempted to reduce these values, but the issue persists. I’ve experimented with various resolutions and haven't found a solution; I'm at a loss for what else to try.
If you play Counter-Strike on your laptop and notice persistent lag, try testing it on another computer. If the problem persists on the second device, investigate your internet service provider or your network equipment instead.
Yes, it still occasionally stutters, similar to how it did in 1.6 with a range of 1-10, but in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive it could be due to a slightly elevated ping—typically between 30 and 50 milliseconds—and the use of a 128-tick rate. In 1.6, I usually play on servers within my nation where my ping is consistently between 3 and 10, while those servers there run at a remarkable 10,000 frames per second.
