So yes, many users have shared various solutions over the years, but it looks like I’m still facing challenges with newer drivers. A major frustration is that I can’t launch the game in a virtual machine and prefer playing it directly on my desktop. (My laptop supports NVIDIA and Windows 10.) I’m curious if anyone has additional fixes that could help. This issue affects the GOG version of the game. The problem began when I couldn’t open the game, but removing the files atioglxx.dll and atigktxx.dll resolved it temporarily. Just deleting atioglxx.dll didn’t fix the crash before it started. I’ve checked the event log for clues—it shows issues with atioglxx.dll and a stackhash error. I tried adding the stackhash file to the dependency list, but it didn’t help. I also attempted to use an older version of atioglxx and atigktxx from a previous driver update, but neither worked. I’m a bit disappointed because the game is enjoyable despite being outdated, but using it on a laptop without a proper mouse makes it less fun. If you need a mini dump to assist further, let me know and I’ll get one as soon as possible or provide more details to narrow down the problem.
