He is experiencing an unusual issue where the D partition vanished after turning on the PC. Only the C partition is visible, and the D partition appears as 518Gb free space in Disk Management. The only available option is to create a new simple volume. Since System Restore was disabled, there’s no way to recover the lost partition or restore data at this time.

Search for tools to recover lost partitions. I don’t suggest a particular program, but downloading and testing is the best approach.

You might want to set up a new volume on the D partition and then restore your files there. This way you avoid issues with the C partition being full or outdated.

Search for software that can recover deleted partitions, not just files. Looked up tools quickly via Google and found several links including EaseUS Partition Recovery, TestDisk, and Find and Mount. Consider trying them or exploring more options.
