Problem encountered with the new PC not showing anything.
Hi Everyone, I'm struggling with my new PC setup. Components included: Asus Prime B450M-KII, RYZEN 5 2400G, GTX 1050 Ti, two 8GB DRR4 2400MHz cards from Cossair, a 550 PSU, and an M.2 SSD (not connected). I assembled everything carefully, double-checked all connections, and tested different RAM setups without success. When trying to display via GPU or Mobo, nothing works. Without a GPU it doesn’t show anything. I’ve updated the BIOS multiple times but nothing changed. The orange power light stays on but doesn’t respond to flashing or other fixes. I even reset the CMOS battery, but it still doesn’t work. I’m really unsure what to do next. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Updated June 5, 2023 by Tamewhale4
Where is the amber LED located? The board seems to lack POST LEDs that would normally reference a particular part. With newer UEFIs on B450 boards using a 2400g configuration, there were many AM4 motherboards that had a 'no-return' UEFI update stripping support for older models but still backed Ryzen 5000 series. In short, they ran out of EEPROM space to accommodate all five Ryzen generations, so a set limit on updates was established.
The LED light points to the PCIe slot for the GPU. The second part of your message seems unclear, but it might mean the CPU is outdated or the board can't support it anymore.
The LED light is connected to the PCIe slot for the GPU. Your second point seems a bit unclear—did you mean the CPU is outdated and the board can't support it?
If it isn't posting without a GPU installed, meaning you're relying solely on the APU's display outputs and have checked basic memory settings plus different UEFI versions, then the 2400g might not be compatible with the newer UEFI versions you're using. I wasn't able to confirm this from your motherboard's site, but many boards received updates that block older CPUs like the first and second generation to support the Ryzen 5000 series. In such cases, trying a UEFI released before 2019 could be worthwhile. This version is likely the 0401 model, as it was released just before the Ryzen 5000 launch and claims 'new CPU support'.
Unfortunately, the attempt didn’t succeed. I even checked the BIOS “number” where the CPU was last confirmed, but still nothing. I’m probably going to bring it to a local shop for advice. At this stage, I’ve decided to give up on GG. Still, thank you for your support and feedback—it really means a lot.
