Hey everyone, I just upgraded from a 5800X to a 7800X3D and chose the ROG Strix X670E-E board along with 32x6000Mhz CL30 RAM. I kept everything from my old build. I also got a new 240mm H100i ELITE CAPELLIX XT. After swapping the motherboards, things worked fine—performance is solid except for some oddities. My RGB lights stopped working suddenly, and all USB ports cut out briefly, even the back ones. The mouse and keyboard stopped responding, and USB drives disconnected for a moment. I’ve kept my fans and AIO connected via the same Corsair Commander Core I’ve used for two years without any problems. Anyone think this is related to the motherboard?
This appears to be an unusual problem. It could involve software, the CPU, or the motherboard. You might want to reinstall all drivers, look for unusual activity in Task Manager, or perform a fresh Windows installation. It also happens sometimes with me that my USB drives disconnect unexpectedly, but they reconnect after being reconnected and everything seems normal. Give it a try. Consider turning off the sleep power-saving feature for your components in Device Manager—double-click the driver, navigate to Power Management, and disable "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." I don't know if this will work, but it could.
It might have begun shortly after installing OpenRGB, though I'm not certain. After uninstalling it, the USB drops still occurred. I've just obtained a newer AMD chipset driver version (6.01.25.342) from the official site. I plan to test them first, but if they don't resolve the issue, I'll reinstall Windows entirely and won't install OpenRGB again.
It kept happening even after a fresh setup. I returned the motherboard today and got a replacement. I reinstalled Windows, updated the BIOS, added all the drivers, and within an hour it started again. I’m really confused—could it be related to the CPU?
I acquired a 7600 from someone else and it's been two days without any USB issues, suggesting the CPU might be the issue. >_<
