Problem encountered with games freezing after minimal playtime.
Hello everyone. I assembled a gaming PC for my son and it’s starting to crash after just a short session. I’ve updated the drivers and BIOS, but the issue persists. I’m more comfortable with hardware than software, so I’ve thoroughly disassembled everything and replaced parts. Still, the crashes continue. What might I be overlooking? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. System: Ryzen 5 1600, not overclocked. PowerColor Red Dragon RX 580, 16GB RAM, B450 Aorus Elite. The problematic games are Rainbow Six Siege, The Division 2, and Hitman 2. Could anyone provide more details? Thanks!
Could you try Windows Defender first? Since the previous time I used it, it scans for issues in the Windows system files during the complete check.
I face the same issue. The game frequently crashes to the desktop, sometimes displaying a black screen with no signal. The Event Viewer reports that applications are blocked from accessing graphics hardware. I've tried several fixes: uninstalling and reinstalling graphics drivers, switching back to older drivers, updating Windows 10, flashing BIOS, updating AMD chipset, using YouTube tutorials for registry tweaks like setting TDRELAY to 8, running games as administrator, and applying DISM commands. The solution involved checking GPU and CPU temperatures, performing stress tests with Heaven benchmark for the GPU and Ryzen Master for the CPU, then addressing the crash when GPU temperature reached 81°C. I looked into GPU reconditioning and found articles online. I watched tutorials on YouTube and followed some steps. It resolved the problem! Before changing the GPU thermal paste, I kept it at 60°C idle and increased to 45-50°C after a while. After two hours of gameplay without crashes, I was relieved. Many people have similar issues, so I'm sharing what worked for me. Please let me know if this helps. My setup includes a Ryzen 3600 with Snowman T6 cooler, MSI B450M MORTAR, 2x 8GB DDR4 2400Hz, GTX 1060 3GB, and Thermaltake Smart 700W.
