Problem encountered with disabling the 1.1.1.1 application.
I used the 1.1.1.1 app for a while, everything worked fine, but I switched to a personal DNS (a pihole) and wanted to stop using that service. The app won’t let me update my DNS settings. What I tried:
- Turned it off, but can’t change DNS on the phone
- Uninstalled it, still forces 1.1.1.1 with DNS over HTTPS
- Rebooted the phone, no difference
- Reset network and logged in again, still stuck on 1.1.1.1
Phone model: Galaxy A5 (2017), Android 8.0.0
What’s going on? Checking the app’s help page at http://1.1.1.1/help
I'm sorry for the confusion. After turning off and removing the 1.1.1.1 app, I connected my Wi-Fi to my network using either DHCP or a custom DNS like 8.8.8.8. Everything worked fine, and the phone accepted my settings. Yet when I visited http://1.1.1.1/help, it showed that my device was still relying on the configuration from the removed app.
