Presence of an object inside the hole on the motherboard's backside
Hello everyone, I saw a small metal component on the back of my motherboard (Asus Prime z790-p). At first I thought it was a pin that got pushed in, but I ruled that out because other pins have copper traces where solder should be. It’s just a hole now. Anyone know what it might be? The board is fine otherwise. You can check the image here: https://imgur.com/FMO1yd7 and this one: https://imgur.com/O977MLD Thanks for looking!

Just to make sure, you're referring to this small opening? (Red circle.) There are many features that look alike there, often next to what seem to be 4-pin connectors (blue circles), and also elsewhere (green circles). Generally speaking, if you notice a hole containing something inside it, it’s unlikely to be a through-hole like screw holes or the mounting clips on the power connector’s plastic casing at the bottom of the image. Motherboards, similar to most modern circuit boards, consist of several printed-circuit layers; a hole in just one layer would reveal what lies above it. As for the reason behind these holes, it's unclear. If the boards are built using automated assembly, they might serve a purpose in the positioning system used by the component mounters—either for board alignment or for placing pins and connector shells.
