The overclock is running low because it's being limited by system stability or hardware constraints.

I used 4.3 and kept encountering issues. It seems my chip is in the lower 2% range.

Have you actually checked the voltages or monitored them?

Received 4.2 at 1.255V, then switched to 4.3 up to 1.285V on LLC with medium setting. Still working.

When issues appear in software or BIOS, the settings you configure are only valid when there is zero load, a condition that rarely occurs. This is why using tools such as HWinfo64 2nd gen helps maintain stability even at 1.4V with proper cooling.

I rely on hwinfo, cpuz, and cpuid tools for monitoring. My stability test uses prime 95. I connect to a Cooler Master Hyper 103 atm.

This should be the most affordable upgrade option. The 2600k isn't that inexpensive, so a more powerful overclock seems like a better choice.

But does it really change much? I set it to 4.5 ghz at 1.31V right now. Once it reached full CPU load, it stopped working.

The variation is quite significant. I’m guessing your RAM or graphics card isn’t limiting performance.
