Hi, welcome to the forum.
About a week ago, I purchased a new CPU for my PC, a Ryzen 7 5700. Prior to that, I upgraded my BIOS to ensure compatibility.
But just two days before the CPU arrived, I began experiencing odd issues with my system. Initially, I noticed random reboots. At first, I dismissed it as a brief power outage, but after a few hours, my PC would freeze completely and I had to force shut it down by holding the power button.
Later, I suspected the problem might be related to the CPU or RAM. Since the CPU arrived with the same issues, I thought it was the RAM. After installing it, the symptoms persisted. Then, I stopped receiving any video signal when turning on the PC, and to turn it off, I had to flip the power supply switch rather than just pressing the motherboard’s power button for a while.
I attempted to clean the RAM sticks thoroughly using a toothbrush, cotton swabs, and alcohol, but nothing resolved the issue. The same problems continued.
So, I recently replaced the RAM with Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO SL sticks and encountered the exact same difficulties. I reset the BIOS three times—first and second attempts involved leaving the battery out for a while and flipping the PSU switch—but no improvement. On the third try, I used the jumper connector to clear it, but again, nothing worked.
Currently, when I power on the PC, all fans spin except the GPU fan (which seems to activate only under load), and there’s no video output. To shut it down, I must flip the PSU switch, as the power button doesn’t work.
Could my motherboard be damaged? I also noticed that the LED patterns on my RAM sticks become misaligned over time, though this might not matter since it only shows power is present.
Additionally, before these upgrades, my PC had similar issues whenever I changed components. I recall having to reboot at least four times after adding an old hard drive. Could this have caused long-term damage?
EDIT: I should also mention that I tried booting with just one RAM stick, but that didn’t help either.
