You're weighing wired and wireless options for Ethernet. A powerline adapter uses your home wiring for a stable connection, while a wireless card relies on radio signals which can be less consistent. For reliability, the powerline setup is usually better.

I don’t have direct experience using powerline adapters, though some friends have used them and had mixed results.

Powerline might seem like a good idea but can actually slow things down due to messy wiring and higher delays. Consider using a reliable wireless card or try a mesh network such as Google WiFi, connecting your PC to an access point over Ethernet.
