I have a four-screen arrangement, three at my workspace and one near my bed. At night I switch off all three of my desktop screens and activate the bed screen for watching YouTube while lying down. The problem is that when I power down my primary display, the mouse tends to move to the center after a short time and I can't reposition it. This happens with the Samsung G85SB Ultrawide monitor, which is set as the main display. I've tried using other monitors as the main one, but it didn't resolve the issue. I prefer keeping this screen as the primary one. This has been an ongoing concern for several months, and I'm only aware of the main display setting at the moment. Another minor concern is that after turning monitors back on, certain apps like Discord and Telegram can take over the taskbar and hide Steam dropdowns. Restarting resolves these problems. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
It looks like a sleep feature might be causing issues. Check if your mouse (or dongle) is connected to the Samsung monitor. If yes, switch to a USB port on the computer case. Verify if the monitor has a sleep function—turn it off if needed. Ensure the monitor isn’t connected via HDMI; instead, use a Display Port cable. HDMI supports CEC, which can control other devices like Blu-ray players or TVs that might interfere with your setup. The wireless keyboard/mouse is linked to the PC. I didn't locate any additional sleep options in the monitor settings other than powering it off after inactivity. Since I'm switching the monitor manually, I assume that rule doesn't apply. The main display uses a DP to miniDP cable. Thank you for the advice! Regarding detecting new monitors, I must keep that enabled because I have a display port switch to turn on and off my VR, and I believe it wouldn't work without that setting active. At least not if displays aren't detected automatically, which would be inconvenient.
