I’m assembling a budget build for a media server using refurbished parts. All components are connected to verify compatibility before proceeding. When power is switched on, a repeating sequence happens: CPU indicator lights briefly, then flicks off and back on, memory indicator pulses half a second, then stops. After this cycle, fans speed up and slow down before stopping again. No further action occurs for about three seconds. The issue seems to stem from the motherboard rather than the CPU or RAM, and checking the manual didn’t clarify. Both the PSU and graphics card functioned in another system. I’ve tested booting with minimal changes: single CPU, CPU + RAM, different slots, no cooler, alternate PSU, and re-seated cables. Clearing CMOS and updating BIOS to a stable version were also tried without resolving the problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead! Consider another memory module? Perhaps a smaller capacity one without ECC if you need it.
