Opened up chrome yesterday, left a few windows open and then everything froze. Restarted once and still nothing happened. Is my power supply damaged? If this OS is the issue, can I use my existing hardwired PSU and install a modular one? I'm using an Asus M5A97 2.0 motherboard. Thanks in advance for any advice.

don't understand what you mean.
you just mean the cables themselves are hardwired to the power supply?
if so, once you disconnect them from the motherboard and any other components then you just pull the whole thing out.
wouldn't matter if you went modular or not on the new product.
you don't give any insight into the rest of the system though.
if this is some OEM prebuilt system then you will most likely not be able to just replace the power supply with a retail model.

Nah, nothing special here yet. Currently has a raidmax cobra 600 that I'm pretty sure is no longer working. I'm considering a 750 semi-modular compatible with an Asus M5A97 R2.0. After sharing this, I did some checks and think I should be fine as long as nothing else got affected when the PSU failed. Lemmie, let me know if you need to watch out for anything else. Thanks for the reply.
