Power supply is humming and shutting down unpredictably.
Hello, friends. Here’s a revised version of your message:
Hello everyone, I’m back with another update. Initially, I faced an issue where my PC wouldn’t power on properly. We thought the PSU was the main problem, so I replaced it and it worked until recently. Now I experience occasional shutdowns—my computer turns off instantly, though it powers on when needed. There’s also a strange buzzing noise from the new PSU, which makes me think something else might be wrong. I’m wondering if the RAM could be causing these issues, or if the motherboard is the culprit. I don’t see any obvious damage like blown capacitors. Could you help me figure this out? Thanks!
Generally something like memory doesn't cause shorts like that, but it's possible, you ideally need another system to test the psu alone, and then parts to individually find out what may be causing the issue, i.e. a second stick not already used in the system to test, presuming your psu is capable of delivering what your hardware demands under load then test each part, please can you reply with system specs? And if your attempting to run any overclocks? The buzzing may also just be cool wine which I have experienced once but it wasn't too audible and was on a budget chinese psu I was tinkering with, to test your psu alone you can get a wire or paper clip and stick in in two pins, the pins to avoid confusion you should just Google how to jump a psu
Usually there isn’t enough detail—full specifications would be ideal to begin with. Regarding the PSU, it’s important to understand when and how it operates, and a video could clarify its behavior.
Thanks for your quick responses. Your setup includes: CPU i5 7600k, motherboard MSI Z270 A-PRO, RAM available, PSU bequiet! pure power, 11W onboard graphics. From what I see, the PSU voltages appear normal according to the BIOS menu, right? I attached a file showing the buzzing, though it might not capture everything accurately—I might share another if needed. It keeps buzzing consistently, whether under load or not. No overclocking or modifications have been made. The system runs Linux on MSI SnapShot.bmp and Bequiet.m4a.
