The optimal power approach for smooth performance focuses on balancing efficiency and responsiveness. For the Ryzen 7 4700U in a laptop, consider keeping two cores active at full speed rather than lowering all clocks, which helps maintain quick browsing. The GPU side can use tools that let you switch between optimized quiet modes and high-power settings easily. For temperature tracking, reliable utilities are essential. Regarding gaming with fewer cores, using four instead of eight might reduce power consumption but could affect performance; disabling six cores entirely may lead to noticeable throttling.

4 versus 8 cores offers much cooler operation, but performance drops significantly—consider lowering your clock speed or voltage for better results.

I reached this conclusion by analyzing how core utilization affects performance. A single thread can only use one core, so reducing from eight to four cores would need more than four fully loaded threads to halve performance. Historically, games had fewer than two threads dependent on performance, but that changed over time. The 4-core/4-thread i5 was optimal because it balanced load effectively. Regarding whether doubling cores truly doubles performance for all programs, that depends on the specific workload and engine support.

Someone can confirm that increasing cores doesn't always lead to proportional speed boosts in every task. Performance improvements are more noticeable in multi-threaded programs like video editing or certain games, while single-threaded apps typically see little benefit.

Consider browsing and gaming as your main tasks. If you're using Google Chrome with just a few open tabs, adding eight CPU cores might not make a big difference—especially if you're only using two tabs at once. Running seven-zip on low power for long periods doesn’t seem practical for most users.

Are these games demanding more processing power? Diablo 3, the upcoming Diablo 2: Resurrected, and Diablo 4 are all in various stages. Older titles can still work, but for a popular MMORPG to thrive and attract a big player base, they need to be available for a while. I’m retired from gaming now and will pass the device over to someone who might enjoy less mainstream titles. For more details, check out this link: https://www.google.com/search?q=games+th...nt&tbm=vid And here’s a video that explains it well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AI8go-mYf-w. Most performance comes from four cores, which is ideal for devices with limited cooling capacity, like laptops. We’re not going off topic—this discussion was about managing power on a specific chip.

For sure, consider reducing the clock speed instead of turning off cores.
