Hi, your setup looks correct. The PSU has 18 and 10 pin connectors at the end, which matches your motherboard's requirements. You can proceed with the new PSU without needing another one.

Do you connect the MPG A850G using its original cables or the older PSU cables?

Make sure you connect the PSU end of your cables to the designated ports on the PSU. Each hole will have a label indicating the correct placement.

Sure, the cables included with the updated PSU wouldn't work with the new one.

Connect both 18-pin and 10-pin connectors on the power supply side of the cable. Avoid using cables from different power supplies.

Unless you desire explosions in your computer, it's better to use the cables that came with the power supply.

Both units are linked, but I’m not connected to the graphics card since I wanted to verify the memory usage first. Should I plug it in?

Yes, if you're only using the PSU's cables, there are labels on them.

You can observe labels on the 14-pin cable, CPU, PCIe cables, SATA and Molex cables, plus the +12VHPWR cable. It's clear that most connections have a distinct number of pins, making it similar to assembling a puzzle. ATX 24 for MB, CPU and PCIe for CPU power plus extra GPU power, SATA & Molex for HDDs and 2.5" SSDs, Molex for fans and other components. If your motherboard includes headers for fans, it's better to use MB for fan power since PSU fan power is fixed at 100% RPM without any speed adjustment. Some of these details are usually covered in PC building guides.
