I've activated the hard power mode, and since it's happening right now, I haven't had a chance to test the jumper yet. If saving the board is my only choice, I'll get it done by someone else who can help me, as I'm not confident handling it myself at this moment.

Arcing the jumper can feel intimidating if you're doing it without preparation. I found a tutorial where someone shared a nearly identical setup and successfully restored the MoBo by clearing the CMOS and handling the jumper arc. If you're unsure about your approach, it's better to seek help. The process isn't overly complicated, but mistakes can lead to more harm. This video shows a straightforward way to clear both the CMOS and the jumper. Your board should match the one in the clip, and you should have a two-pin jumper ready.

You haven't chosen the BIOS update file yet, so no update is available. The black screen seems to point to a BIOS problem when you use the M-Flash tool. Your PC starts up and you can access Windows. Try updating BIOS through Windows if MSI supports it. Some BIOS versions might not work with certain processors, which could also lead to a black screen.

My previous work on different boards always required picking the file and often asking for confirmation before proceeding. If it updated by itself, I’d be concerned it might have triggered the problem. It’s important to review the notes for each BIOS version you’re comparing to prevent issues. Edit: Just noticed it’s about the chipset, not the BIOS, so I think your chipset was already up to date. Not certain otherwise.

I’ve started exploring the BIOS settings now. The problem is that my default BIOS isn’t detecting the SATA SSD as a boot device. It only sees the 5400rpm HDD. I realized the boot priority for physical drives is set elsewhere, which might explain why it’s ignoring the SSD. I’ll check the update process and see what went wrong. bmx6454 mentioned possible conflicts with other updates before the BIOS update. Updated on January 3, 2023 by Storks.

I haven't received any new updates since... possibly late 2020.

I'm having trouble getting back into Windows again. After watching the video zippspence shared, I managed to enter BIOS, but the boot drive isn't showing up there.

Bios is functioning properly. Navigate to Bios, then restore to the factory default settings and save the changes. Check if the boot drive is recognized.

I just revised my response about missing my boot drive. For your convenience, I’ll bring you back to that note. I’m all set now. Thanks for your assistance. I thought removing the battery would reset my CMOS completely.
