Hey everyone, I'm thinking about getting Dominator RAMs. There are options like 4x8GB at 3200MHz CL16 or 3600MHz CL18. I'm curious if it's better to go with the slower CL16 or try to squeeze timing on the faster CL18, or is it worth the investment for the 3600MHz ones? I've never really experimented with RAM overclocking before, so I'll check this out and see what you all think. My setup: Asus Z490-F CPU, i9 10900K GPU, ASUS 3080 TUF OC PSU, built for a gold gaming/enthusiast rig! Cheers!

I own two 8GB 3200 CL16 Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB units, each in RGB mode. My setup managed 3600 CL at 18 but faced significant challenges. If I could repeat the result, I’d purchase a 3600 model.
I’m not sure because I haven’t checked both sides. What I’m saying is that you could probably upgrade the 3200 kit to 3600. You might also be able to push the 3600 even further, so it depends on whether the extra $50 adds noticeable performance for your RAM. I’ve tried rigs with 8700K/9700K/10900K plus 2080 Ti and found that gaming results are pretty similar whether you use 4400MHz CL16 or 2400 MHz CL18. Personally, I didn’t notice any difference in games like Resident Evil 2&3, Metro Exodus, Red Dead Redemption 2 or Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. So I don’t think minor changes in DDR4 RAM speed really change how the game feels. It could vary if you switched from DDR3 1600 MHz to DDR4 3200 MHz.
