I run my home lab on an X99 setup after moving from a 5820k to a Xeon E5 2678 v3. This model offers 12 cores and 24 threads, with a base clock of 2.5ghz and turbo up to 3.3ghz. It's an OEM part, but you can learn more on the Intel website and Wikipedia. While not ideal for gaming, it provides solid performance for other tasks. For reference, Cinebench R20 scored 3842.
