Hey guys,
So I bought the 3770 over the 3770K because I wasn’t sure about the difference and the 3770 was roughly $30 cheaper. Now I feel like the biggest dork around.
I looked into the Intel Turbo Boost feature, which claims to reach 3.9GHz, but honestly it still seems pretty weak compared to what I’ve seen the 3770K hit at 4.4GHz.
My question is, how do I turn on the turbo boost? I’ve checked the BIOS and enabled all settings, but CPU-Z still shows me at 3.4GHz. Is there a way to push it higher, maybe up to 4.0 or even 4.3? I’m really new to overclocking, so any detailed guidance would be super helpful.
For example:
E.G.: Here – http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2261588
Someone mentioned they got 4.1GHz.
I don’t know how they managed it, but since I’m completely new to OC, any tips would mean a lot.
Thanks a lot, everyone!

The 3770 isn't overclockable because it's not an unlocked processor. The 3770K, however, can be overclocked since it's an unlocked model. Turbo Boost allows the processor to increase its clock speeds when under load. In the BIOS, there might be a turbo boost target setting (varies by motherboard), and you can adjust it to see how high the boost goes. Your CPU will only enter Turbo mode when fully loaded—use prime95 to check if the turbo is active.

Hey everyone,
I bought the 3770 over the 3770K because I wasn't sure about the difference and the 3770 was around $30 cheaper. Now I feel like a total clueless person.
I looked into the Intel Turbo Boost feature, which claims to reach 3.9GHz, but that's still pretty low compared to what I've seen the 3770K can hit at 4.4GHz.
My question is, how do I turn on the turbo boost? I've checked the BIOS and enabled all settings, but CPU-Z still shows me at 3.4GHz. Is there a way to get a 4.0+GHz speed, maybe by adjusting the base clock? I'm really new to overclocking, so a detailed guide would be super helpful.

Someone mentioned they got 4.1GHz.
I don't understand how they managed that since I'm now fully into overclocking, so please help me out. Thanks a lot!

EDIT: Additional info:
RAM: 12GB DDR3 G.skills 1333MHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H
GPU: EVGA GTX 680
Hey man...maybe you already considered this...but did you get any kind of protection plan for the processor? Or where did you buy it? I think I don't have the receipt, but if you bought it with a credit card many times, the store might be willing to help, especially if you're looking to upgrade. You could call them or visit and mention you wanted the "K" version. I'm sure some sellers will accommodate depending on where you bought it.

Hi,
For accurate details, I'm sharing my own results using a 3770. The base clock is set at 107.5, and the multiplyer is at 41. I reached 4400 MHz with stability in OCCT ([email protected]). Delidding was applied for temperature adjustments. Starting with i7-4xxx models, overclocking is limited due to the multiplyer.
