During a significant upgrade of a relative's computer, I encountered an issue I hadn't experienced before. The system would turn off after the first use with the old power supply, even though it worked fine with the new one. Initially, I suspected the PSU was faulty, but replacing it didn't resolve the problem. My only guess was that the PSU had misaligned pins or a noisy startup causing the motherboard to shut down immediately upon detecting power.
Maybe the updated PSU dual 12V rails are worth considering. You might view the two rails as two distinct PSUs, each with reduced power. Plugging all cables onto one rail could trigger overcurrent protection. The key is to evenly distribute the load between the two rails. Good luck!
