I have a 2x8 GB RAM setup at 2400 MHz, and my friend upgraded his to 2x8 GB with 3200 MHz. The new module didn’t fit when combined with the existing 2400 MHz RAM. When I tried mixing it with the lower speed, the system would restart repeatedly until I forced a shutdown. After swapping, it worked perfectly. Your motherboard manual mentions different speeds for single and dual modules—maybe you need to check if your board supports dual channels at higher frequencies.
Reset CMOS once the new parts are in place. You’ll lose the current settings, so consider saving a profile beforehand.
I can review your latest update. It seems you need to configure the RAM to either 2133 or 1866 before installing new memory. Which one should you use?
clear CMOS is done by pressing a button or shorting two pins or removing the CMOS battery and let it sit for a while, no need to enter the BIOS at all. This is "hard reset" while applying factory defaults in the BIOS is a "soft reset", they are different
No changes have been made to the BIOS settings yet, and a CMOS update should not alter those configurations.
The BIOS chip functions similarly to an application, whereas CMOS manages the BIOS configurations. A clean CMOS ensures the BIOS resets to its original state, excluding any saved profiles that remain.
