Hello, I am having quite a bit of trouble with a new build, have tried reading forums and manufacturer support pages, and now am posting here in attempt to find some assistance. Details below: Build: ASRock B550 Taichi -- AMD Ryzen 7 5700G -- Wraith CPU cooler (comes with CPU) -- 1x8GB Oloy OWL Black 3200Mhz -- EVGA 510 BP -- Sitting on cardboard (NOT installed in a case currently) Symptoms: Does not reach BIOS -- Dr. CMOS LED code runs through several displays during POST only to settle on 99 (PCIE) -- Does have video output, but is frozen on black (backlit) screen with a solid _ -- Escape keys do nothing Diagnosis Attempts (Chronological): Originally, I had completed this build (M.2 SSDs, case peripherals, USB keyboard/mouse, 2nd stick of RAM) installed POST code read memory issue and there was no video output, so I took out the 2nd stick of RAM I then received the video output with the frozen _ mentioned above Tried the one stick of RAM in each slot with the same result as above Started to pull of components that are not necessary to reach BIOS Currently, the build is in the state specified by the "Build" section with no other components installed (no display, no case etc) Same result in this state Tried updating BIOS via BIOS flashback (tried with 2 different versions) This fails as indicated by the BIOS flashback LED going solid after initially flashing after holding down I read the manual carefully to ensure I am doing this process correctly (actually, I read the manual closely for the whole build) Tried powering on without any RAM and receive a different memory LED code Tried resetting CMOS via the CMOS reset button I smell no burnt electronics on board Have confirmed orientation on 24pin and 8pin PSU harnesses Have confirmed orientation/seating of CPU and RAM I feel as if I am at the bare-bones config that should still get through POST to BIOS (and have stripped more off yet). I dont understand the 99 error (PCIE) since I have never (and have no need to) connect anything to PCIE expansion ports. Am I missing something obvious? Or is this just a DOA situation? I do not find the RAM I am using on the list of confirmed RAM by ASRock, however, this RAM has great reviews and there is a distinct difference in behavior with and without the RAM installed. Thanks for any help!
