Yesterday I installed some paid RAM modules for my desktop PC. Nowadays everything works well, but this morning I experienced serious freezing and frequent restarts. At the moment I'm using an ASRock B650 PG Lightning with BIOS v2.10, an AMD Ryzen 7700X, and four x4 16GB sticks from Kingston Fury Beast DDR5-5600. Earlier, with two 16GB sticks (EXPO at full speed), the system ran smoothly. After the crashes began, I changed the BIOS setting from "EXPO 5600" to "Auto." It seems stable now—no more crashes at the moment. The exact RAM model is available here: https://www.kingston.com/en/memory/gamin...dr5-memory. The motherboard model can be found at: https://pg.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B650 PG Lightning. You might want to try TestMem5 to test stability, though I'm not sure how to use it properly. When launching it, it starts automatically and then opens a preset app that asks me to close it. Running it as an admin gives me repeated prompts like "I need to run it as an admin to use some instruction set." This is odd since I'm already running it as admin. The first non-admin run caps the RAM in Task Manager, while the second (as admin) shows around 20GB. If you followed the steps correctly, the EXPO setting caused crashes after a few seconds of app errors, but switching to Auto kept things running for about five minutes. The ASRock support page lists your motherboard and module as compatible with the KF556C36BBEK2-32, though I'm not sure what that means. Anyone has advice on how to proceed?

Using two DDR5 modules together improves performance significantly. Running four overclocked units can cause instability, particularly when using separate kits.

I chose the 2x Corsair Vengeance 32 GB DDR5-6000 CL30-36-36-76 because I understood 4 sticks could cause issues. I don’t usually focus on BIOS updates, as manufacturers rarely release new versions after launch.

I believe the TestMem5 app is functioning properly after testing. The EXPO-5600 cl36 and EXPO-5200 cl40 are both stable for extended periods. Considering the motherboard supports up to 6400 in a 4-slot setup, and my modules meet the QVL requirements, it seems like the problem might be related to the CPU. I checked the 7700X documentation, which lists validation up to 5200 with four modules. It’s possible a future BIOS update could address this, or the issue may require replacing the CPU altogether.

There are no quad channels available on consumer boards. Four sticks function as dual channels, each with two sticks.

That's correct, I understood it properly. Appreciate the confirmation!

I think I’ll accept a slightly slower clock for the RAM, since I didn’t pay too much for a DDR5-6000 configuration. Regarding the timings, I’d like to adjust them if it won’t affect stability, but I’m not very sure about manual overclocking settings yet—I’d rather keep that for later. I checked the BIOS and saw the specs on both sides, but I suspect matching them isn’t the right approach.

No, that's too much, keep it at 2 and lower the main latency to 38. Run a stability check; if successful, try 36. Rinse and repeat—this should give you minor improvements since AM5 prefers low-latency RAM.
