You're planning a PC build with two SSDs—one new (SN770) and one older (970 Evo)—and you're curious about running Windows 10 on the 970 Evo before installing it. It’s not overly complicated, but you should be aware of a few steps and considerations.

When you start your computer, you'll need to choose which storage device to use. Updates will only affect the active boot drive, so you'll have to install them yourself after switching drives. The best approach is to save your current drive as the boot source and format the new one for storage. Alternatively, you can switch to the new drive as the boot device, format the old one, and use it for data. If you choose either method, you can keep the old drive in its current role and transfer it to the new one.

Great choice! I'll use the second option. Windows on the new drive will work better than the 970 Evo.
