I ran a scan with adwcleaner and found the registry key you mentioned. After removing it and rebooting, the issue persisted. I've used malwarebytes, junkware removal tool, Hitman Pro, and Bitdefender free before. Chrome extensions have also been crashing frequently. Any suggestions?

Remove it from the registry; it isn't part of Windows and won't cause harm. If it bothers you, it's safer to leave it untouched.

I couldn't locate it, as nothing with the label "hkcu" appears. Updated note: I located it.
