Possible high CPU voltage detected.
I own a 13700k processor. My VCore reading during full-core runs in cinebench is about 1.35. Oddly, when mixing audio in a DAW it jumps to 1.45—despite only about 35% CPU usage and normal temperatures. Could plugins used in mixing be more demanding on one core? I’ve already undervolted by ~0.05V and reduced clocks to 48x for P and 40x for E just to be safe. My BIOS was also updated recently. Anyone have insight into this situation or any concerns?
No, Cinebench all core performs better under clock speeds compared to DAW mixing. DAW typically consumes more power than Cinebench all core.
Cinebench performance is much better across all cores compared to clock speeds, whereas DAW utilizes only half of the cores available. Additionally, DAW consumes far fewer watts than Cinebench all cores.
It seems I misunderstood the situation. The current around 1.45 isn't excessively high, and the 1.35 Cinebench score isn't a major concern. Would you consider reducing clock speeds or voltage as a solution?
Did you install the BIOS fix for the elevated voltages affecting Intel's 13th and 14th generation processors? Many users experienced performance drops due to excessive voltage levels.
I refreshed my bios and followed intel's suggested settings, which strictly adhere to all restrictions. Power consumption is now limited to 253 watts. I applied XTU to lower voltage and reduce clock speeds. It seems the CPU cooler has some issues after relocation—thermal throttling occurs only when all cores are heavily loaded in Cinebench. I plan to reinstall the cooler. Using a DAW, which consumes the most power, keeps temperatures manageable (around 60°C max). I’m not sure if this is connected but wanted to mention it.
