CPU: Ryzen 9 7900X
I've been using this system for a few months now and recently reinstalled Windows 11. When trying to install software or after extended use, I encounter a black screen and a bright red CPU indicator on the back display. The processor appears undamaged and is well-oiled with heatsink lubricant. Could the newest Windows version be causing this issue, or is my processor faulty?

Mine functions properly with Windows 11 25H2, which suggests the issue might lie elsewhere. Please check your BIOS version and ensure it's set to UEFI. Chipset drivers should also be up to date.

BIOS and all chipset drivers are current, I thoroughly disassembled the whole system and reassembled it to confirm proper placement. No clear cause was found. I even performed a fresh installation to test, and everything installed and functions properly. It sometimes displays a black screen with only the CPU light on the post on the MB. Occasionally, when installing or playing a game, it restarts after a few minutes or half a day before issues arise. In the event console, I see only the kernel power ID when forced shutdown. No strange software errors have appeared. I haven’t encountered any problems with AMD processors, and I built two of these machines simultaneously; the other one is working well. The problem seems to be with the CPU—last week I discarded all cases, and NewEgg now demands the original packaging for a CPU return.

When setting up any operating system, I turn off XMP memory overclocks and maintain the RAM at JEDEC default settings for reliability. If your system shows slight instability at 6,000MT/s XMP, it could damage the Windows installation, necessitating a new setup with reduced RAM speed. Have you completed a full MemTest86 run (which may take several hours)? Even a single error indicates unstable RAM, and it might require multiple attempts to identify the issue.
https://www.memtest86.com/

I store my CPU units in preparation for potential resale on platforms like eBay. While some sellers list empty boxes, I believe NewEgg prefers to include stickers or serial numbers.

I noticed both my RTX 4070 and an older RTX 3060 experienced multiple crashes in Topaz Video AI. To resolve this, I used MSI AfterBurner and set the GPU power limit to 95%.

I'll attempt memtest to check the results, but if that doesn't help, I'll revert my memory to the default and try another installation. Since I'm retired, I have the time. I previously tried my old Radeon card and the issue persisted, thank you.

Back once more with the same concerns,
ASRock X670E Steel Legend AM5
GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER WINDFORCE OC 12G

be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 5 | TDP 270W CPU Cooler | Air Cooler
AMD Ryzen 9 7900X - Zen 4 12-Core 4.7 GHz - Socket AM5
Corsair RM750e
PC will halt abruptly and CPU indicator flashes on post, all components removed and checked for proper placement, functioning well for a few months before issues resurfaced. I haven’t found any clear signs in the event viewer, but I’m still confused. Any suggestions? I just restarted again, thanks in advance.

Ignored, removed the CPU and discovered a burn on the bottom of the processor and the motherboard base.
