Requesting a second view on the Intel Atom D525 board you purchased. It was bought cheaply from eBay for a project needing a low-power CPU for basic file sharing. I haven’t tested it yet, but during inspection I noticed an unusual colored capacitor on top—while others differ in size but share this feature. Could someone confirm if that part has leaked? Also, it looks like the seller included a photo showing this detail, which might affect my decision to return it.

It was indeed leaked, but I don’t have the rating details. Just curious about it!

the board operates without issues. it’s straightforward to swap it out once you locate the precise specifications and dimensions. you could also have it soldered yourself or send it to a trusted repair service.

I won’t test the board because the capacitor is close to the ATX 24-pin. I’m assuming it could be risky for the board or my PSU if powered on. I might just return it—my soldering skills aren’t great, and I didn’t really expect to fix anything in working condition as described by the seller.

Attempting a polite approach to reach out to the seller didn't succeed since he believes the capacitor has leaked. He clarified that the item is used, old, and still functions properly despite its age. He mentioned the board operates well and that considering its condition and age it should meet your needs for your project. Despite expecting some pushback, he remains skeptical about getting a refund or replacement, especially given his reliance on this board for daily use. He plans to handle the situation by contacting the resolution center if necessary.

He didn't wish to receive the item back and gave me a partial refund sufficient for replacement, which I accepted as part of my decision to test it. I now have a new question: I believe I've located suitable capacitors—Panasonic models that match the size and ratings. I've also noticed smaller options from Nichicon with identical specifications. I'm uncertain whether brand matters or if physical dimensions should be prioritized. Is Panasonic reliable?
